ABOUT

The idea of a Basic School was born out of the need for the University of Health and Allied Sciences to attract and retain highly qualified staff from all over the country who in the past had not accepted offers to teach or work in UHAS for lack of quality basic schools in the municipality, according to them. Consequently, on 7 May 2019, Professor John Owusu Gyapong, then Vice Chancellor of the University, inaugurated a 10-member committee to lead the process of defining the structures necessary for the establishment of a University Basic School that would serve the University Community as well as the surrounding communities.
The initial membership of the Committee was as follows: Ms. Ruth X. Ayittey (Senior Architect), Mrs. Lucy B. Ofori-Ayeh (then Director, Academic Affairs), Dr. Emily Boakye-Yiadom (School of Medicine), Mrs. Victoria Kanda (Proprietor, Glory Kids Care Centre), Mr. Prosper Yevu (Deputy Director, HR-Municipal Education Office), Mr. Fidelis Anumu (Institute of Health Research). Mr. Edem Deikumah is the GAUA representative whilst Mr. Joshua Gadasu represents TEWU.
